Sustainability Discussions at the EXPO REAL Open Forum

The EXPO REAL Forum, which featured an intensive program from the very first day of the fair, hosted day-long discussions on October 6 with various speakers under five main headings on the subject of sustainability.

In the session titled "Look At The USA: Green is Gold," moderated by Property Week Editor Giles Barrie, Guido Petinelli, one of the Toronto-based executives of the World Green Building Council, emphasized that over the past century in the United States, the construction of buildings that were simply expensive and offered no financial benefit had been cancelled outright, and that green buildings would not be able to fully fulfill their purpose unless their financial benefits were underlined.

Another point highlighted by the speakers was that, at a time when sustainability is a rising value among European Union member states, non-EU countries should also devote attention to this issue.

Turkey Featured with Its Secondary Cities at the Investment Locations Open Forum

Held in parallel with the EXPO REAL Open Forum, the Investment Locations Open Forum brought together real estate professionals from various countries, featuring, in order: Hungary, Russia, the Baltic States, the United States, Canada, Latin America, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Serbia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, North Africa, Scandinavia, Spain, and Poland.

In the session, where the current state of each country's real estate market and its advantages and disadvantages for foreign investors were discussed, Kemal Okumuş, Hakan Kodal, Gerarg Groerner, and Murat Ergin took part as speakers under the moderation of Yasemin Uzun, Editor of Gayrimenkul Türkiye Magazine.

Speaking about investments to be made in secondary cities beyond major metropolitan centers such as Istanbul, Ankara, and İzmir, Kemal Okumuş underlined that any innovation introduced in Istanbul is quickly embraced in these cities as well. Hakan Kodal, stating that he could not provide definitive information regarding the current state of the sector, noted that Turkey's potential is immense and that he considers himself fortunate to be in Turkey during such a period.

At the fair, where companies and individuals in the real estate sector maintained intensive and continuous communication, and where participants had difficulty finding their way among the stands, each of the parallel events held in five separate halls shed light on different issues and insights.
